The spring Striper season is up and running. Fishing has been red hot for trolling the delta and minnow fishing the Sac and Feather river just north of the Sacramento City.
Limits daily have been produced with daily catches producing upto 20-50 fish.
Xtreme-Angling has been fishing the delta out of the Rio Vista area trolling for Stiped bass both deep and shallow.
When trolling shallow I use Yozuri Crystal minnows 5 1/4″ size paired with a zoom trick worm off the rear treble hook. I also include a 3/4oz RattleTrap in the spread.
When shallow trolling I try to focus on channel breaks in 6-11ft of water.
For deep trolling I try to fish flats or channels in 16-40ft of water.
I troll with 40lb braided line, to a large swivel and a 4 to 5ft, 25-30lb mono leader.
I set the lures back 80-130ft and troll at 3.0-4.5 mph.
I will be shifting to live bait Striper and Shad trips around Verona which is just North of Sacramento City on highway 99 in the coming weeks.
